First Day of School is Tuesday, August 13th
Gates open at 7:30 a.m. with free breakfast and lunch served daily for all students. The first bell rings at 8:44 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 8:47 a.m. Please ensure that your student arrives on time so they donāt miss out on the first day orientation. We encourage students to arrive a bit early to have the opportunity to catch up with friends.
The first day of school will also be our new student orientation where students will receive:
Their New Class Schedule and The Bell Schedule
A Campus Tour, including classrooms and important campus landmarks (Gym, Library, etc.)
PBIS Policy (BIG 5), Campus and Behavior Expectations, and Much More to help your student feel prepared for the new school year.
ASES (After school program) Updates:
ASES will continue to offer an
academic support hour
daily for students to stay caught up on their homework/classwork. Middle school can be a big adjustment period for students as they transition from one teacher to six teachers, one for each unique subject.
New to this year, ASES will no longer offer a 4:30 p.m. late bus. Students will need to be picked up by a parent/guardian by 6 p.m. daily.
Cellphone Policy at Glick:
Cellphones/Earbuds (from the site handbook pg. 11)
A student may carry their cellphone on campus as long as it is in their backpacks, not audible, and powered off while on campus. If a cellphone disrupts the educational environment in any way, is visible or audible, it will be confiscated. Additionally, students are not permitted to have their earbuds in their ear/s during the instructional school day. On a first offense students will have their devices confiscated and be issued their device [cellphone/earbud] at the end of the school day. On a second offense, parent/guardian will be notified and will be required to pick up the device. Glick Middle School is not responsible for damaged, lost or stolen cell phones.
Important Dates in August:
-Glick Back to School Night and Minimum Day Dismissal at 1:00 p.m. ā August 22nd
-PICTURE DAY ā August 26th
EVERY DAY COUNTS:
When children miss school and donāt show up regularly, they miss out on fundamental academic skills that can benefit them in the future. Students who come to school regularly develop life skills that will help them through college and into their careers. We have some great incentives and prizes for positive attendance including, but not limited to TVs, Apple/JBL wireless headphones, JBL speakers, movie projectors, and so much more. Help your child be at school, on time, every day! Thank you!
